About BeforeItBurnsOut.com:
I guess after two years it's about time to do an "about" page....
BeforeItBurnsOut was born one bright sunny Orlando morning while I was driving the 25 miles to work at a retail job making just about enough to cover the gas it took to get there and back. Several of my co-workers were artistically talented, but few people ever saw their work. Likewise, I have been writing since the time i figured out how to operate my limbs, but had done little to nothing with it. This, combined with the desire to create something new and non-plastic while I was living in a world of sheer conspicuous consumption, led to the site.
In my travels I have met many talented people, but, again, few were doing anything with their work. I wanted to make something to exhibit it that was much more lasting than a blog or the like, with the hope that it would foster some sort of community among the contributors and visitors to the site. What, if anything, that will lead to, I cannot say. As for me personally, it has led to new friends, a deeper understanding of old friends, and the ability for anyone anywhere in the world to see original works of art lovingly (and sometimes painfully) created out of passion. And that's wonderful. I hope you enjoy it.
Thanks go out to those who have contributed, those who laughed and called the site "pretentious," those who smiled, those who put stickers and buttons on their cars/notebooks/hats/babies, those who don't get it, those who do, those with the claim of "love" on their lips but the inability to read a 750 word short story, those who know the feeling and not just the word catharsis, those with the drinks each night, and those with the hangovers in the morning. Without you there would never have been inspiration for the site, or to keep it going. Thank you.
